Special Correspondent

Centre approved subsidy of Rs 12,500 per house

Construction in progress in Jaipur, Dausa and Bhiwadi

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government is constructing over 10,600 houses under 15 housing schemes as part of affordable housing policy at a cost of Rs.363 crore this year. The construction work is in progress at Jaipur, Chaksu, Bhiwadi, Kuchaman and Dausa.

According to State Principal Urban Development and Housing Secretary G. S. Sandhu, the Union Housing Ministry has accepted detailed project reports for three schemes and approved a subsidy of Rs.12,500 for each house.

“The direct beneficiaries of the schemes would be the owners of houses. Rajasthan is the first State getting this [kind of] subsidy from the Centre,” said Mr. Sandhu at a meeting of the State Approval and Monitoring Committee.

Quality construction

Three private builders have joined the scheme for constructing houses for different categories, Mr. Sandhu said, adding that full care is being taken to ensure quality of the building material and timely completion.

Similar housing schemes would be launched in the near future in Churu, Sardarshahar, Jhunjhunu, Pindwara, Barmer, Deoli, Chittorgarh and Bhilwara, he added.
