Precious: The idol of Shirdi Sai Baba is made of 75 kg of silver. TIRUPATI: A processional deity of Sri Bhagawan Sai Baba, made of solid silver, is set to adorn the altar of the Sai Baba temple in the busy Theertha Katta street in the city. As many as ten goldsmiths, specializing in preparing moulded deities, worked on this statue. Weighing 75 kg of pure quality silver, this 2.5 ft tall deity is on display at the GRT Jewellery showroom here. This little idol will not only be worshipped along with the presiding deity made of marble consecrated at the sanctum sanctorum, but is also expected to be taken out in a procession during festive occasions. “The deity will be handed over to the temple authorities on an auspicious day this week”, R.Viswanathan, Senior Manager, GRT, told The Hindu on Wednesday. Visitors to the showroom were seen watching the art piece with awe.
