Mourning for Jayashankar continues

Staff Reporter

NIZAMABAD: Schools remained closed and lawyers abstained from their duty in courts in the district on Wednesday as a sign of respect to Prof. K. Jayashankar, the Telangana ideologue who passed away on June 21 at Hanamkonda.

Minister for Major Irrigation P. Sudarshan Reddy cancelled all his official programmes.

The police postponed its crime meeting as many lawyers and elected representatives who were to attend it left for Warangal to attend the funeral of Prof. Jayashankar. Meanwhile, Telangana activists and all Telangana-Joint Action Committee (T-JAC) members paid tribute to the late Professor across the district.

Black flags

Black flags were hoisted at important junctions of all mandal headquarters and JAC members wore black badges as a mark of mourning.
