T.K. Ponnusamy assumed charge as Corporation Commissioner on Wednesday
T.K.Ponnusamy COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore Corporation will talk to the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board officials to secure 20 mld (million litres a day) from Pilloor, said T.K. Ponnusamy, who assumed charge as Commissioner on Wednesday. Talking to reporters, the Commissioner promised to do all that was necessary for the additional water supply. Priority His other priorities, he said, would be to improve infrastructure in the city, ensure early completion of underground drainage work and fill vacant posts. “If Corporation is the appointing authority, it will fill the vacancies after following the necessary government procedures. If the government is, then it will write to the government to do the needful.” Mr. Ponnusamy also promised to redress Corporation staff's grievances, if any. “I want to ensure a friendly working environment in the civic body. There will not be any vindictive attitude.” “I want to make Coimbatore a model civic body,” he said. Prior to taking charge as the Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner, he had worked in the Energy Department and as Collector, Ariyalur. A native of Tirupur, he had also served in the State Election Commission as its secretary.
