20,000 dogs to be vaccinated

Long due:Veterinary authorities administering the anti-rabies vaccine to dogs in Karimnagar Wednesday.

KARIMNAGAR: To ensure that Karimnagar district was rabies-free, the district Animal Husbandry department has launched an anti-rabies vaccination drive in the district from Wednesday.

The launch of the administering of the anti-rabies vaccine was done by the Joint Director (Animal Husbandry) Suresh Kumar at the Veterinary poly-clinic in Karimnagar on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that they had identified a total of 20,000 odd dogs in the district and they had decided to vaccinate all the dogs before June 30.

He urged pet dog owners to administer the anti-rabies vaccine too.

He said that they would administer the vaccine to all the stray dogs in the villages and municipalities in a phased manner before June 30.
