KSEB employee electrocuted

KOTTAYAM: An employee of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) was electrocuted while he was repairing an 11Kv transformer in the town on Wednesday.

According to the police, C.T. Sabu, 47, son of Thampi of Cheeramparambil House, Karappuzha, who was a senior lineman with the Central Section was engaged in repairing the 11Kv transformer on the Kottayam-Kumarakom Road near CMS College, when the accident occurred around 11:45 a.m.

The power supply in the town had disrupted in the morning and works had been taken up at various points. The work near the CMS College was being done in the presence of a number of KSEB officials. Sabu was standing on the platform when suddenly power supply resumed. Sabu suffered shock, lost consciousness, and his body was hanging from the power line. The Fire and Rescue Force was pressed into service. Though he was taken to Kottayam Medical College Hospital, Sabu could not be rescued.
