Cancer hospital to create corpus for poor patients

NOBLE INITIATIVE:Actor N. Balakrishna at the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute on Wednesday.
HYDERABAD: A corpus fund would be soon created to provide free treatment for needy and poor cancer patients at Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute here, its chairman and actor N. Balakrishna announced on Wednesday.
Fund raising tours
He would undertake a month-long tour of the United States of America, beginning next month to raise funds for setting up the corpus, he said while unveiling a new logo and website of the institute to mark its 11th foundation day.
Mr. Balakrishna said he would periodically undertake fund-raising tours to various countries.
He also distributed fruits and prizes to winners in sports events on the occasion.
Kodela's plea
Former Minister Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, member, Board of Trustees, urged the hospital management to serve more poor patients. M.V.V.S. Murthy, former Member of Parliament and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute, R.P. Singh also participated in the event.
