“DMK had enacted anti-corruption law in State”

CHENNAI: The DMK had enacted an anti-corruption law in the State, and it wanted Chief Ministers to be included in the ambit of Lok Pal, former Chief Minister and DMK president M. Karunanidhi here on Wednesday.

Talking to reporters at the airport on his return from New Delhi, Mr. Karunanidhi said: “But, what decision would the United Progressive Alliance will take, I do not know.”

When asked about the enquiry ordered into the new Secretariat project, Mr. Karunanidhi said he did not know why the government had constituted an enquiry commission. “I will speak after knowing about it”, he said.

Answering a question on the denial of bail to his daughter Kanimozhi, who was arrested in connection with the 2G spectrum allocation scam, Mr. Karunanidhi said Kanimozhi and Sharad, the Managing Director of Kalaignar TV, were jailed inhumanly. The case against her was due to wrong reports in the media, and the CBI is trying to prove them.

“We are discussing with lawyers on what to do with her case further. She is uncomfortable in the prison, has boils, rashes and swelling all over her body, she is suffering in jail, so is Sharad. People like you who ask could also be responsible for her state.”

On the DMK's alliance with the Congress, he said there was no problem with the alliance.
