Officials erect flags on encroached sites

PUDUKOTTAI: Revenue officials have set up flags at some sites in the town with a view to retrieving the land that has been encroached for over a couple of decades.
One of the sites which has been under unauthorised possession, according to officials, is the stretch linking the East Main Street with the Old Bus Stand road.
The clearing of these encroachments, sources said, would shorten the travelling route for road users. The problem caused due to floods during monsoon would also be minimised.
Revenue officials have erected flags in these areas to indicate that land would be taken over shortly. Setting up the flag was a preliminary step to warn encroachers against eviction drive to be taken in course of time, sources said.
