Coimbatore: A 15-year-old girl who was admonished for taking the cell phone to the school was subsequently found dead at her residence in K.K. Nagar on Thursday. Saravanampatty police said the Class X student was allegedly scolded by her father for taking cell phone to the school. Police suspect the death to be a case of suicide, as the girl was not able to stand the words used by the father. Investigations are on with regard to the case. Robbed A 54-year-old woman was robbed of her gold chain by two persons on Wednesday. Police said the woman, Dhaujudeen of Masakalipalayam was walking along the L.B. Shastri Road, when two motorcycle-borne youth snatched her gold chain and sped away. Based on a complaint Singanallur police have registered a case. In another incident, Kavitha (35) of Masakalipalayam was robbed of her two sovereign gold chain while she was walking the road in the area. Youth on a motorcycle snatched her chain and sped away. Protestors removed Over 200 protestors of Kembanur were removed by the police on Thursday when they tried to block the Narasipuram Road. The protestors demanded that the bus service should not be extended to Anna Nagar which is beyond Kembanur. The RDO conducted an enquiry and later held talks with representatives from both Kembanur and Annanagar at a meeting which went on late into Thursday evening. Seized Ramanathapuram police arrested M. Piyas (22) of Podanur and seized 110 pirated DVDs of latest Tamil films on Wednesday. Police said they raided a shop at Nanjundapuram and found the DVDs. Held for theft Madukkarai police have arrested six persons on charges of stealing cables from a private cell phone tower at Madukkarai. Police said that based on a complaint from the Security Officer Thandavan, they found six persons removing the copper wire from the cables. The arrested were Venganna (40), Seenu (35), Krishnan (25), Yesu (25), Srinivas (30) and Girish (30), all hailing from Godavari District in Andhra Pradesh. Police recovered the property that had been stolen. Two-wheeler missing D. Subramani of Madukkarai market found his vehicle stolen, which he had parked at Oppanakara Street on Sunday. Big Bazzaar police have registered a case. Body found Suresh (40) of Puliyakulam was found dead near the Ondipudur railway track on Thursday. Police said he was in inebriated state. Railway police recovered the body. A police case has been filed and investigations are going on.
