Series of burglaries

Kolhapur: Thieves broke into a flat and stole jewellery estimated at Rs. 2.5 lakh and Rs. 43,000 in cash in Shaniwarpeth in Kolhapur city on Wednesday.
The incidence took place when the owner of the flat Ashok Waichal, an employee of the Bank of Maharashtra, and his wife and son had gone out.
In twelve days
This is one of the series of break-ins that has taken place in last 12 days.
In another incident of housebreaking, articles estimated at Rs. 2.75 lakh were stolen from the house of late Marathi writer Baba Kadam in Tarabai Park area in the city.
Mr. Kadam's wife Kumudini was not residing in the house for eight months, and the theft came to light when she returned home on Wednesday.
She has lodged a complaint with the police.
