Fishermen withdraw strike

RAMANATHAPURAM: Fishermen of Rameswaram operating mechanised boats on Thursday withdrew their indefinite strike they launched against the arrest of 23 fishermen and the seizure of five boats by the Sri Lankan Navy.

The decision to withdraw the strike was taken following a meeting of revenue officials with the agitating fishermen. Normal fishing operations will begin on Saturday.
