Meet moots trade boost between India and Europe

Bangalore: An interaction between Indian and European business leaders, covering issues of boosting trade and investment and facilitating and implementing policies for growth, was organised here by the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC).

The interaction on India-European Union Bilateral Trade Relations on Thursday, which had delegates coming from several European Union nations, also discussed the synergies between both governments and reforms to enhance business climate.

Underlining the growing importance between India and EU, Shekar Viswanathan, president, BCIC, said the chamber has signed an MoU with European Business and Technology Centre with a view to developing cooperation between the two organisations and promoting bilateral trade and economic relations.

Consul General of Switzerland in Bangalore Rolf Frei, Consul General of Germany in Bangalore Rolf Saligmann and Peter Young, Counsellor, Head, Trade and Economic Affairs, EU Delegation to India, New Delhi, were present.

Elected

Chief Executive Officer of JSW Steel Vinod K. Nowal was unanimously elected BCIC president for 2011-2012. Managing Director of Harman International M. Lakshminarayan (senior vice-president) and partner, National Management, Grant Thornton H.V. Harish (vice-president) were also unanimously elected at the 34th annual general meeting of the chamber here Thursday.
