Security guard found murdered

Staff Reporter

Tiruvannamalai: A private security guard, who presumably stood in the way of burglars trying to break open the doors of the Periya Kolappadi Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Society (PACCS) at night, was found murdered at his work place on Thursday morning.

Elumalai (50) was found dead inside a shed with injury marks.

There were signs of attempts to break open the door. As the door did not give in, the burglars would have fled, police sources said.

Tiruvannamalai Taluk police initiated an investigation and brought in the dog squad and forensic team to collect evidence. According to police estimates, the PACCS has in its safe mortgaged jewels worth about Rs.6 crore.

Villagers staged road roko insisting the police immediately nab the criminals responsible for this act. Superintendent of Police Shamoondeeswari told The Hindu that four special teams have been formed to investigate the case.
