A special day for tribal children

Special Correspondent

MYSORE: It was a special day for tribal children living in the forests of Nagarahole, as former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble spent some time with them.

Mr. Kumble, who is vice-president of the State Wildlife Board, is also an international ambassador of Australian NGO Red Dust. He was in Nagarahole along with some members of Red Dust to promote health and hygiene.

Mr. Kumble addressed nearly 100 children, including those from the tribal hamlets at Sunkadakatte, and told them to adopt a healthy lifestyle. He also played cricket with them and gave them tips on bowling.

The participants were given kits containing pamphlets with information on various health issues and were urged by the ace spinner to become role models for others.

The team from Red Dust interacted with local officials and staff. The team is expected to visit a few anti-poaching camps before concluding its visit on Friday.
