BANGALORE: Vidyaniketan School, thanks to some brilliant shooting by Venkatesh and Rohan, outplayed St. Joseph's Indian HS 56-26 in a boys' encounter of the IMG-Reliance-sponsored inter-school basketball league at the Bishop Cottons Boys School court here on Thursday.
For SJIHS, only Kazi Shebaz showed some consistency.
Vidyaniketan, with an all-win record, leads the table with four victories while SJIHS, Christ, Delhi Public and Mallya Aditi International, with two wins and two losses, lag behind.
Christ and Mallya Aditi went down to Bishop Cottons and National Public School respectively.
Boys: Bishop Cottons 27 bt Christ School 22; NPS 33 (Vishal 15) bt Mallya Aditi Intl. 23; Delhi Public School 39 (Sachin 16) bt Kendriya Vidyalaya (Hebbal) 29 (Pranav 12); Vidyaniketan 56 (Venkatesh 19, Rohan 10) bt St. Joseph's Indian HS 26 (Kazi Shebaz 10) .
The annual Fr. Eric Vaz memorial and Centenary Shield inter-school hockey tournaments, for junior and senior boys respectively, will be held from July 1 to 14 at the KSHA stadium here.
The format for both competitions, conducted by St. Joseph's Boys' High School, will be the same with seven teams split into groups of two. The top two in each group at the end of the league phase will enter the semifinals.
The teams: St. Joseph's BHS, Baldwin BHS, Bishop Cotton BS, St. Germain HS, Vidyashilp Academy, St. John's HS, Frank Anthony PS .
