Mysore: On the occasion of the Olympic Day which coincided with the first anniversary celebrations of Clean Sports India, an awareness run was held here on Thursday morning. CSI's vice-president and former international athlete Ashwini Nachappa, joint convener Reeth Abraham, Arjuna Awardees S.D. Eshan, Honnappa and Chethan Babbor and former international athlete Somashekar and other sports-persons took part in the run. It began at the Oval grounds and passed through JLB Road, Maharani's College circle, Hunsur Road and ended at Oval grounds, covering a distance of 3 km. Nearly 100 sports-persons took part in the run. Speaking on the occasion, Nachappa said that sports-persons have to create change and clean up the sports scene in the country. She said that sports administrations were being handled by persons with little knowledge about sports and that's why sports-persons were suffering. She called upon sports-persons to unite together and fight to cleanse sport in the country. Later a seminar was held at the Infosys campus, Mysore. B.V.P. Rao, convener, CSI, explained in detail about the Olympic movement. Justice Mudgal, chairman of the committee on the draft legislation for sports federations, spoke on the proposed Sports Act which the Government of India was trying to enforce on the National Federations. Mohan Das Pai, former director at Infosys, and Amar Kumar Pandey, Karnataka Police Academy director also spoke on the occasion. — Staff Reporter
