Award for Honorary Consul

Thiruvananthapuram: Ratheesh C. Nair, Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation and director of the Russian Cultural Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, has received the Consular Medal instituted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russia.

He received the award from Ambassador of the Russian Federation to India Alexander Kadakin at a function held in New Delhi last week in connection with the Russian National Day celebrations.

Mr. Nair was selected for the award for his contribution to the consular services of the Russian foreign ministry. Slovak citizen Alena Adamkova who is executive director of the International Roerich Memorial Trust at Kulu was conferred the Order of Friendship, and Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian cosmonaut, was decorated with the ‘Medal for merits in the Exploration of Space' for his contribution to the development of cooperation in manned space flight.

Arun Mohanty of Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi received the Pushkin Medal for developing and strengthening scientific and cultural ties between Russia and India. Feodor A. Rozovsky, Director of the Centre of the Science and Culture of Russia, was awarded the Medal of ‘The Order for merits before the Motherland,' Second Class. Mr. Nair is also a recipient of the Pushkin medal instituted by the Russian government.
