Additional Superintendent of Police to look into alleged land grabbing
Staff Reporter
Tirupur: An Additional Superintendent of Police would be asked to look into the petition of three ex-servicemen and five scheduled caste persons that the 10.75-acre land allocated to them by the government in the district had been grabbed by land mafia, Superintendent of Police V. Balakrishnan has said.
According to the petitioners, the land situated at Anuppatti in Palladam block was allocated by the government in 1991 after rendering it as ‘surplus land' which got transferred to the mafia through “fraudulent means” a few years ago.
“The petitioners have forwarded the copies containing their grievances to the President, Prime Minister and other authorities alleging that revenue and police officials did not act promptly to get the land back to them,” the SP told reporters here. R. Vijayamohan, a retired Corporal in Indian Air Force, and the main petitioner, told The Hindu that the mafia with the connivance of revenue officials forged the patta documents to get the land transferred to another name.
