Emergency drill held

Tuticorin: On-site emergency drill was conducted at Spic Fertilizer Factory in the presence of Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories A. Ravi here. Under the assumption of ammonia leak from a vessel in the urea plant, an emergency was declared in the evening of Thursday. Mitigation measures like cutting off supply to the vessel and trip action were taken from the control room. Vessel isolation and provision of clamp to arrest the leak were carried out in the field by employees wearing breathing apparatus, chemical protection suit and gloves. Fire men assisted the team by water spraying to contain spread of ammonia vapour to other areas. The site was monitored after arresting the leakage.
