BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Chapter of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) is committed to reach out to all the segments of art and artistes in Odisha and it has an ambitious plan to act as a catalyst in rejuvenation and promotion of the dying folk and tribal art practices. ICCR's Regional Director Minakshi Mishra stated this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of its concert series – Horizon – at Jayadev Bhawan. “Many have the misconception that ICCR only supports classical dance and music. I wish to clarify that we care equally for all sorts of art forms and I am quite keen to promote tribal arts and culture through our series of events,” she maintained. “ICCR stands for India's composite culture and we wish to reach out to all segments of culture – folk, tribal, classical; performing and visual arts; individual artistes and arts institutions both in urban and rural regions,” she explained. “We are developing a data bank on Orissa's culture and a directory of artistes and arts institutions of the State. We seek cooperation of the artists, arts institutions, state government and the media to complete it,” she appealed and added that any information on art and artists could be sent to the ICCR's Regional Office on Ravenshaw University Campus in Cuttack.
