Commissioner makes surprise inspection of Anna Bus Stand

Nagercoil: Commissioner of Municipal Administration Senthil Kumar made a surprise inspection at Anna Bus Stand to review the ongoing maintenance work along with higher officials on Thursday
A sum of Rs1.80 crore has been allotted for the maintenance of the bus stand.
The works were going on in full swing and it would be completed at the earliest.
The Commissioner directed the officials to remove the shrubs grown in nearby shopping complex.
As the implementation of Ulakkiaruvi Scheme, which has been proposed in the Nagercoil Municipal Council to eliminate water scarcity within the town, was not viable, steps would be taken to implement an alternative project at the earliest, said the Commissioner.
Regarding the construction of underground drainage in Nagercoil town, he said that the Central government had already given permission for the implementation of this project.
The works would be started once adequate fund was released by the Central Government.
Consumer Protection Association president S.R.Sree Ram requested the commissioner that the land given by the Nagercoil municipality for the construction of State Express Transport Corporation, situated adjacent to Anna bus stand, should be taken back in order to extend the space of Anna Bus Stand in Meenakshipuram so that congestion within the bus stand could be averted in future. For that the Commissioner assured to look into his demand.
Tirunelveli region Director of Municipal Administration Mohan, Nagercoil Municipality Commissioner Janaki and other officials accompanied Mr.Kumar.
