Collector launches national identity card project

PUDUKOTTAI: The District Collector, B. Maheswari launched the project of issuing multipurpose national identity card in Puthambur village on Friday.
The Collector handed over the acknowledgement slips to five members of the family of Rajendran at the special camp held in this regard in the village.
Muthumari, Revenue Divisional Officer, and other officials were present.
The fingerprint of all the ten fingers, eye balls in addition the photograph of every member of the family aged above five years were recorded at the camp.
Similar camps were held in Sembattur village in Pudukottai taluk, Sengeerai and Rayavaram village in Tirumayam taluk, Rethinakottai and Melapattu villages in Aranthangi taluk today, when the details of the locals were recorded by the special officials team of Bharat Electronics Limited, Bangalore.
The camp will be continued in Sembattur, Puthambur and Melapattu villages till July 1; in Rayavaram village till July 3; in Rethinakottai village till July 4 and in Sengeerai till July 5.
The work of preparing the national ID cards in other areas will be carried on in a phased manner, the Collector said in a press release.
