Tiruchi
One for posterity:V.Divya (centre), state top ranker in TNEA with parents V.Sathya and K.Venkataraman in Tiruchi on Friday. TIRUCHI: Named first in the Anna University Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) 2011 rank list with nothing less than the total of 200 marks as cut-off, V.Divya, a product of R.S.K. Higher Secondary School run by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Tiruchi, is delighted, more so as the achievement could erase her disappointment over missing out on the Plus Two State ranking. Divya's total of 1,174 includes centums in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science. Having secured 193 in English, it was the score of 181 in Tamil that denied her the coveted state-topper spot. Based on the assessment of the Tamil answer script they obtained under the process of re-totalling by a team of subject teachers, her parents, K.Venkataraman, Senior Deputy General Manager, BHEL, Tiruchi, and V.Sathya, Senior Clerk, Southern Railways, have contemplated exercising the option of revaluation. “The marks after revaluation may not serve any purpose at this juncture. Yet, we would definitely wish to know Divya's actual marks in Tamil since she has the distinction of holding on to the first-rank position since kindergarten,” said Mr.Venkataraman. Till tenth standard, Divya studied under the CBSE pattern, and switched over to State Board with a confidence to emerge as the State-topper. With a total of 487 out of 500, Divya stood first in tenth standard in the district and third in the entire CBSE Southern Region. The TNEA top-ranker has decided to graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University. “My choice is so as I can retain the options of pursuing careers in either software or hardware after graduation,” Divya said. She attributed her achievement to her parents, and the school teachers and principal, besides her tuition teachers in Physics and Chemistry.
