Haryana CM's resignation demanded

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: Indian National Lok Dal secretary-general and MLA Ajay Singh Chautala on Friday demanded that the Haryana Government headed by Bhupinder Singh Hooda resign on moral grounds as it had failed miserably to maintain law and order in the State.

In a statement, Mr. Chautala said that the murder of Hayatpur village Sarpanch in open daylight and the lynching and burning alive of one of the alleged killers (he died later in the hospital) by a mob was “extremely shameful and indicative of the Hooda regime's failure on all fronts.”

Alleging that “jungle raj” prevailed in Haryana as the government, the administration and the police machinery had completely collapsed, he said that the Governor should immediately sack the Hooda regime if it did not resign on moral grounds.

He said it was shameful that the police had failed to arrest the killers.
