USER FEE:The toll rate is expected to be revised every year. BANGALORE: The Bangalore Tourist Taxi Owners' Association has opposed the July 1 increase of toll on Hosur Road Elevated Expressway. The toll is expected to be hiked by Rs. 5 for two-wheelers, Rs. 10 for LCVs and mini buses, Rs. 20 for trucks and buses and Rs. 35 for heavy construction machinery or earthmoving equipment. The daily pass rate will remain unchanged at Rs. 20. In a press release here on Friday, R.K. Holla, association general secretary, said Bangalore Elevated Tollway Ltd. (BETL) should have taken user feedback before the hike decision. “Taxi users, taxi operators, service bus operators, regular courier service, milk vans and point-to-point operators are not using the expressway,” he said. Meanwhile, BETL general manager M.R. Deshpande said the new rates will be valid till June 30 next year. “The toll will be revised annually based on changes in the wholesale price index for the year. The revised rates will be effective from July 1 every year,” he said. Two-wheeler riders can buy a monthly pass for Rs. 440, which is currently Rs. 360. Those using car/jeep/ van, may buy monthly pass for Rs. 1,100 (Rs. 900 now). For LCV or mini buses, the rates have increased from Rs. 1,255 to Rs. 1,540. The rate for truck and buses has been hiked to Rs. 3,080 from Rs. 1,795, while heavy construction machinery or earth moving equipment will have to pay Rs. 6,155 (Rs. 5,025 now).
