Constable accused of killing colleague commits suicide

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A constable of Kukatpally police station, ‘who shot dead his woman colleague' and shot himself six weeks ago on the station premises, committed suicide by hanging on the outskirts of Mohammadabad village in Ranga Reddy district on Friday.

A suicide note purportedly written by constable Srinivasulu stated that no one was responsible for his death. “I am dejected in life and resorting to the extreme step,” the note said, according the Mohammadabad Sub-Inspector Riyaz Ahmed.

Srinivasulu, who suffered critical bullet wound after shooting himself, came to his village a few days ago. He left his house on Thursday and was not seen since then. The villagers saw his body hanging to a tree in crop field on the outskirts on Friday afternoon and alerted the police.

The constable was in love with Lalita.

In a note left on the day he shot her dead, the constable wrote that he was annoyed as the woman started moving with another person of late. “I am responsible for her death,” he said in the note. He also stated then that the woman should be punished as per the law if he died and she survived.
