Students told to join defence services, serve Mother India

VIJAYAWADA: Commanding Officer of NCC 19 Andhra Battalion, Eluru Range, East and West Godavari districts, Tassin Hussain, on Saturday said students must make use of every opportunity that comes their way in their academic pursuit.

Addressing students of Delhi Public School, Vijayawada, on the occasion of the school investiture ceremony, Col. Hussain urged the students to work hard and come up in life.

“At least some of you must enrol yourself in the defence services and serve Mother India,” he said. He also appreciated the democratic way in which the school captains were selected.

After the prayer song, Col. Hussain hoisted the school flag. This was followed by march-past. R. Akhil and V. Akshita Reddy took oath as the school head boy and head girl respectively, followed by oath-taking by the captains of the four houses – B.V. Manikantha, K. Abhinav, G. Sreya, and Madhuri Krishna. House vice-captains, prefects, class leaders, section leaders, cultural committee leader, and sports leader also formally assumed their new responsibilities. The school's pro vice-chairman Narendra Babu, director Praveen, dean Gayathri, and vice-principal Sankaralingam were present on the occasion.

Leadership qualities

At Nalanda Vidya Niketan, the investiture ceremony was marked by a spectacular march-past and a message by T. Hari Krishna, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Intelligence, Vijayawada city, the chief guest on the occasion.

He said students must develop good leadership qualities, excel in studies, and become all-rounders.

Their good deeds in future must bring good name and fame to their alma mater.

School vice-principal P. Manjula presided over the function while headmistress M. Padmaja, CCA in-charge B. Venkateswarlu, and all house masters were present.

Badges given

Badges were given to the head boy Neelish Jain and head girl Reshma Joju besides captains and prefects of Deeksha, Mythri, Sahana, and Tejus houses and class monitors.
