Compensation for victim of elephant attack

CHENNAI: Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has sanctioned the release of Rs. 2.5 lakh to the family of Raman of Alandurai village in Coimbatore South taluk who died on Thursday subsequent to the attack by an elephant in Moongilmadai.

While the State Forests Department would contribute Rs. 1.5 lakh, a sum of Rs. 1 lakh would be given from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund, according to an official release issued on Saturday.
