Congress, TDP against Telangana: TRS

Staff Reporter

WARANGAL: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders alleged that UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu miserably failed in their duties as a responsible leader of their respective parties.

Party senior leader and former MP, B. Vinod Rao, legislator D. Vinay Bhaskar, former MLA G. Vijayarama Rao, former MP A. Chandulal and others said Ms. Sonia Gandhi wrote a letter requesting for creation of separate Telangana State to the then Home Minister L. K. Advani in 1999 while in Opposition. After a series of deliberations of Congress core committee, the party failed to implement its own promise of forming a new State.

“Ms Sonia Gandhi should have prevailed over the leaders of Andhra region, but she failed. Similarly, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu constituted committees and gave consent letter to Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. Again he backtracked fearing backlash from Andhra leaders,” Mr. Vinod Kumar pointed out.

Both Congress and TDP presidents were of the opinion that leaders from Andhra region were true representatives of people and were not taking seriously the leaders of Telangana region.

‘United fight'

“It is time that the Telangana leaders of all political parties stand united and teach a lesson to the party high command of their respective parties,” the TRS leaders said.

On the alleged damage to NTR statue, Mr. Vinay Bhaskar, Mr. G .Vijayarama Rao and P. Sudarshan Reddy said: “Where were these leaders when son-in-law of NTR humiliated him at Viceroy hotel in Hyderabad. They disowned him and dumped him for power.

After his death, now the TDP leaders talk about greatness of NTR,” they argued.

The TRS leaders said they too condemned the damage of NTR statue and said it was not proper to hold them responsible for the incident. “It was done by emotional and irate public,” they maintained.
