Karimnagar tops in INSPIRE awards

KARIMNAGAR: The creativity of students community in general and government schools in particular was to the fore during the district level INSPIRE (Innovation in science pursuit for inspired research) award winning science models exhibition in Karimnagar on Saturday.

The INSPIRE awards were constituted by the Department of Science and Technology to attract students towards science and unfold the creativity and research skills among the student community.

Each INSPIRE award carries a cash award of Rs. 5,000 which would be used for making the science model and for transporting of the models to various science exhibitions.

Among 29,282 students from 16,488 schools from 23 districts of the State, the Karimnagar district students topped in securing the INSPIRE awards. The students of Karimnagar district secured 2,767 awards in the State.

In order to encourage students exhibits, the District Educational Department has organised the science exhibition of INSPIRE award winning models of Karimnagar division at Manair High School in Karimnagar. The exhibition would be held till Monday. Later, similar exhibition of models of students of Jagtial division would be displayed at Vivekananda Residential School in Karimnagar.

The working models on various subjects were captivating and thought-provoking. The students focused on environmental protection, use of wind power to save natural resources etc. The theft alarm system, fire alarm system, water purifier, water harvesting structures, usage of rain water, conservation of nature were captivating.

Minister for Civil Supplies D. Sridhar Babu along with ZP chairman A Laxman Kumar, legislator A Mohan, Collector Smita Sabharwal, DCCB chairman K Ravinder Rao and others visited the exhibition and complimented the students for their creative exhibits. Speaking on the occasion, he stressed on the need for more research and development for the future generation.
