Man arrested, narcotics seized

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The City Police on Saturday arrested a person as part of the intensified drive against sale of narcotic substances in the city.

The shadow wing and Kalamassery police arrested Jeemon, 24, of Thevakkal and allegedly seized many ampoules of tranquillizers from his possession. He was known to the police as a main link in the supply and sales network of narcotic drugs and was wanted in many narcotic cases.

This is the sixth consecutive arrest that the City Police have made this month.

The police had seized over 1,000 ampoules of drugs in one incident.

City Police Commissioner M.R. Ajith Kumar formed a special wing of the shadow wing to pursue these cases following a large number of drug cases being reported from the city.

The public has been requested to pass on any information about sale of narcotic drugs coming to their notice to the City Special Branch office on phone number 2385002.
