Lokayukta police seize cash from official's car

Lokayukta officials checking the bag kept in the car of an Excise official in which Rs. 9.95 lakh cash was found.

Belgaum: The Lokayukta police recovered a large amount of cash from the official car of the Deputy Commissioner (Excise) Somashekhar here on Saturday.

They recovered Rs. 9.95 lakh kept in a bag in the vehicle.

The currency notes were in the denomination of Rs. 500.

The Lokayukta police did not divulge much on the incident except saying investigation was on.

They seized the cash and the car as well.

Following a tip-off that a large amount of cash was being transported in Mr. Somashekhar's car, the Lokayukta police rushed to a star hotel on Club Road, where the official resides ever since he took charge more than a month ago.
