KOLKATA: Power utility company CESC ended 2010-11 with a 12.7 per cent increase in its net profit which touched Rs.488 crore on a 19 per cent higher turnover of Rs.3,293 crore on the back of a 7.1 per cent increase in sales by volume. Generation increased by 12 per cent with the commissioning of the third unit at Budge Budge which enabled the company to meet the 7 per cent increase in demand despite the reduction in electricity import. However, the units commissioning also jacked up depreciation and interest cost for this RPG enterprise. The board of CESC has recommended a dividend of Rs.4 per share maintaining it at last year's level.
