National-level child art festival to be hosted in November

BHUBANESWAR: As part of its efforts to promote budding artists, the city-based Odisha Modern Art Gallery has decided to host a series of exclusive exhibitions with child artists.

Gallery director and painter Tarakant Parida said the series would be known as “Art Heart” and would showcase child artists from any corner of the country below the age of 15.

“We have been hosting an annual summer art camp for the child artists namely ‘Fine Hearts' here for several years and the response has been quite encouraging. We also hosted a national level-child art exhibition last year here which received rave response,”

Mr. Tarakant said. This promoted us to launch a series of shows exclusively for the child artists with the objective to discover and nurture their talent, he said.

The first in the series of “Art Heart” would be under way at the Gallery from July 2 to 5 and eight children have been selected to exhibit their works in the show.

They are Kritika Patnaik, Srutee Mohapatra, Arin Sahu, Asutosh Jena, Avipsa Biswal, Rishab Panda, Priyavardhan Mishra and Kritarth Sahu, he said. The gallery provides the space for these budding painters free of cost, he added.

Registration

The national-level child art festival would be hosted in the city in November coinciding with the Children's Day celebrations, Mr. Tarakant said. Registration for participation would begin on July 1 and end on September 30, he said and added that there would be around 30 medals and cash prizes for various age groups participating in the festival. Details of the festival can be obtained from the gallery located at 132, Forest Park.
