Kozhikode: Social critic Sukumar Azhikode gave away the T.V. Kochubava Memorial Literary awards instituted by the Dubai Art Lovers Association (DALA) for young and emerging writers at Alakapuri Auditorium here on Saturday. The awards are given for the best works in four genres of literature, including short story, poetry, and play. Writer K. Rajendran was given the award for the best short story while M.P. Pavithra secured the honour for the best poem. The award for the best play was given to M.U. Praveen and P.K. Anilkumar won the award for the best article. Corporation Mayor A.K. Premajam presided over the function, which was organised by DALA in association with the Purogamana Kalasahithya Sanghom. Writer K.P. Ramanunni delivered the Kochubava memorial speech. A short story workshop was also conducted at the venue. Noted writers and cultural leaders spoke on the occasion. Coordinator of the programme K.S. Venkitachalam presented the topic.
