KASARAGOD: The District Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has deferred a decision on taking possible disciplinary action against Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) State unit treasurer V.V. Rameshan, who drew serious criticism from a section of party loyalists for seeking MBBS admission for his daughter under NRI quota at the CPI(M)-controlled Pariyaram Cooperative Medical College Hospital. “We have nothing to share with the media for the moment, on the deliberations held at the party District Committee held here under Polit Bureau member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. We will come out with the details at the appropriate time,” district unit secretary K.P. Sathish Chandran told The Hindu. Mr. Sathish Chandran refuted reports telecast in a Malayalam television news channel quoting him as saying that a decision on possible disciplinary action against the DYFI leader had been referred to the CPI(M) State Committee. ‘Misquoted' “I had not made such a remark. I was misquoted by the television news channel,” Mr. Sathish Chandran said. The day-long meeting was held at the party office here in the wake of serious allegations that Mr. Rameshan had misused his post as DYFI State secretary for personal gains. Mr. Rameshan, who was at the centre of controversy, admitting his lapse as senior leader of a progressive movement, had opted to withdraw his daughter from seeking admission to the medical course under the NRI quota, which the party loyalists, said had brought disrepute to the progressive organisations in the State.
