50 student activists held

Special Correspondent

KURNOOL: The police took into custody around 50 AISF and SFI activists who planned a protest during Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy's visit to the Collectorate here on Saturday.

The students planned to block the convoy of the Chief Minister to highlight the issue of shortage of textbooks and high fee structure in corporate institutions.

The police swooped on the CPI office and took into custody the AISF activists assembled there.

Later, they arrested a few students from the Collectorate who were protesting. They were shifted to an unknown destination and released later.

The Chief Minister announced Rs. 20 crore for development of the general hospital at Kurnool and promised all help for growth of the institution.
