PERAMBALUR: About 134 panchayat-level organisers and five block-level coordinators have been appointed under a special guidance programme for differently abled persons in the district. The differently abled welfare organisers and coordinators, appointed through four non-governmental organisations, would be involved in prevention, identification, early intervention and implementation of the rehabilitation measures of the Department of Differently Abled Welfare. The organisers will be paid a consolidated pay of Rs.750 a month while the coordinators would get Rs.2,000 a month. Collector Darez Ahmed inaugurated a training programme for the organisers and coordinators. He instructed them to conduct a survey in their respective panchayats to identify differently abled persons following which special camps would be held to extend the necessary assistance to the needy. The first camp would be held at Veppur panchayat union on July 23.
