Robbed of cash

Tirupur: V. Shanmugam (52), a resident of Karur district, was allegedly relieved of Rs five lakh while he was at Vellakoil to take part in an auction of a tractor on Friday.

The incident happened when police said the complainant kept the cash in his car and went inside a hotel to take food.

Cheating

The police are on the look out for a labour supervisor of a textile unit who allegedly cheated six women workers to the tune of Rs 2.4 lakh. The accused obtained signature of workers in a blank statement and withdrew the money.
