Collector checks rice at godown

PUDUKOTTAI: Collector B. Maheswari on Saturday inspected the road laying works at Karambakudi and Alangudi town panchayats under the Special Road Scheme 2010 -11. She directed the officials to maintain the standard of roads and complete all the works as per schedule. She also inspected the renovation work of the local tank, implemented under the NREGS at Pallavarayankottai.

Later, she visited the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation godown at Alangudi and checked the rice meant for distribution to the public.

K. Manohanaran, Assistant Director of Town Panchayats (in charge), Tiruchi region accompanied the Collector.

In a release, Ms. Maheswari said 66 road works – tar roads 16 and cement roads 50 – were undertaken in the district. Of the tar road projects, the work at Ponnamaravathi town panchayat had been completed. Of the 50 cement roads, 27 works were over. A total of seven road works – two tar roads and five cement roads were taken up at Alangudi town panchayat, of which a cement road work had been completed.

At Karambakudi town panchayat, two tar road works and four cement road works are progressing.
