Award for Sopanam singer

KOCHI: Renowned Sopanam musician Janardhanan Nedungadi will be presented this year's Shadkala Govinda Marar Award.

Minister for Culture K.C. Joseph will present the award at the Shadkala Govinda Marar Smaraka Kalasamithi at Ramamangalam on Sunday. Minister for Food and Civil Supplies T. M. Jacob will preside over the function and renowned theatre person Kavalam Narayana Panikkar will be the chief guest.

The award carries a purse of Rs. 25,000, citation and memento. Cultural programmes including musical tribute by students of Chetana Music College, Thrissur, Sopanam recital by Mr. Nedungadi, concert by Sukumari Narendra Menon and Kiratam Ottamthullal by Kalamandalam Devaki will also be held as part of the award presentation ceremony.
