Three bodies recovered from Chenab

Jammu: Three bodies were recovered by the police from the Chenab river in Doda district of Jammu & Kashmir on Saturday.

After local residents reported that bodies were seen floating in the Chenab, police teams recovered the three bodies from the river in Assar area of the district on Saturday afternoon, senior officials said.

One of them has been identified as Sardar Darshan Singh of Batote in Udhampur district, they said, adding that the other two are yet to be identified.

It is presumed that these bodies are of three persons who were washed away in flash floods triggered by a cloudburst in Assar-Baggar area of the district on the night of June 9. “It would be exactly known after the identification whether they are the same,” said a police officer.
