Global Hospitals performs heart transplantation

HYDERABAD: Global Hospitals, through a press release on Saturday, said that it had successfully performed a heart transplantation on a 51-year-old patient.

The patient, Venkat Rao, who had been working as CBCID Circle Inspector at the Police Control Room, experienced a major heart attack one-and-a-half years ago after which his heart function came down drastically. He needed repeated admissions for heart failure, and was advised heart transplantation, the release said. He approached Alla Gopalakrishna Gokhale, a doctor with the Global Hospitals, who had reportedly conducted four successful heart transplantations. Dr. Gokhale along with a 35-member team performed a 7-hour heart transplantation surgery.
