Vijayawada
VIJAYAWADA: The city unit of CPI (M) has launched a week-long survey and ‘srama daanam' programme to highlight the deteriorating sanitation and public health in the city. Addressing a press conference on Saturday, CPI (M) city secretary R. Raghu and CPI (M) state committee member Ch. Babu Rao said that the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has utterly failed in maintaining the sanitation in the city. The diarrhoea broke out even before onset of monsoon. The number of dengue and malaria cases has risen phenomenally, and touched 2645 in 2010 compared to 1748 in 2007. The people were in a grip of fear as the public health was deteriorating.
