VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada zone of the AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has introduced free travel facility in all its city services for passengers travelling by RTC long distance district buses. In a statement issued on Saturday, Executive Director of the Vijayawada zone of the corporation M.S. Prakasa Rao, said this was mainly to spare any possible inconvenience to the RTC travellers while reaching their boarding destination and while reaching home after alighting an RTC long distance district service bus. Elaborating further, he said people, who purchase pre-printed computerised bus tickets (advance and current) e-tickets, RTC-131s and TIM tickets, would be permitted to travel free in all the RTC city buses (except a/c buses) two hours before journey and two hours after alighting a long-distance bus. The facility would be extended based on the bus schedule for departure and arrival time printed on the tickets (only for more than 250-km-long journey). Garuda bus passengers would be allowed to travel by all types of buses, including a/c buses. The RTC crew in the long distance buses would be authorised to indicate on the ticket the actual arrival time of the bus. The free travel facility is applicable in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. In case of a delayed arrival of a district service bus, the bus crew would indicate it on the tickets. Mr. Rao appealed to the people to make use of the facility and extend their patronage to the RTC services.
