Roll back fuel prices: CPI(M)

Staff Reporter

Tuticorin: Cadres of Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged a protest here on Saturday against increase in LPG gas and diesel prices.

Leading the agitation staged in front of Rajaji Park, K. Arumugam, Town Committee Member of the party, said that the Central government should think about difficulties experienced by the common man over skyrocketing prices of fuel products.

It must roll back the prices of kerosene, diesel and gas. Poor people were being constantly ignored by the government. They could not afford fuel products at exorbitant rates.

Rise in fuel products would also lead to an increase in prices of essential commodities.

Widespread protest

The party would also stage a widespread protest if the government failed to roll back the fuel prices, he said.

K.S. Arjunan, town secretary, R. Russell, State secretary, Centre of Indian Trade Unions, M.S. Muthu, town secretary, Democratic Youth Federation of India, and others took part in the agitation.
