Mumbai: Three persons, including an employee of a leading cement company's distributing firm, have been arrested for allegedly fabricating a robbery incident and getting away with Rs.9.70 lakh in cash, police said on Saturday. The accused, Samir Sayyed (24), employed with Ambuja Cement's distributing firm K. K. Enterprises in suburban Ghatkopar, and his aides Mateen Munsheed (19) and Shafeeq Navaab Khan (21), were arrested after they confessed havinge fabricated the robbery incident on Tuesday and taking away Rs.9.70 lakh collected from customers, police said. According to police, Sayyed was working with the distributor for two months. His job was to collect cash from the customers from different parts of the city as well as from neighbouring districts, said Mankhurd police station senior inspector S. G. Rajput. “Everyday he would collect lakhs of rupees. As he wanted to make a quick buck, he planned a fabricated robbery incident along with his two friends,” said Mr. Rajput. On Tuesday, after collecting Rs.9.70 lakh from 12 customers and while going to office on his bike, he called up his friends to an isolated location on Sion-Panvel Highway. There Sayyed inflicted sharp injuries on his body with a weapon before handing over the cash to his friends and approached the police station claiming that he was robbed. During the probe, the police picked up Munsheed and Navaab Khan as the investigators doubted the version of Sayyed. Later, the three purportedly confessed to the crime and the police recovered Rs.7.29 lakh in cash. - PTI
