Belgaum: The Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) organised an impressive attestation parade by 105 new recruits at the Talekar Drill Square here on Saturday. The recruits of Group No. 5/10, who successfully completed their training, were attested to the Indian Army. These recruits will be posted in different parts of the country. Major General K.S. Venugopal, Operations and Logistics, Headquarters, Southern Command, reviewed the parade. He advised the new recruits to remain committed to the country's security even at the cost of their lives. This was followed by an impressive oath-taking ceremony. Recruit Ajay Kadam commanded the parade along with parade adjutant Major V.K. Zalte. After the parade, the reviewing officer gave away various medals to recruits who excelled during training. Sagar Desai was awarded the Naik Yashwant Ghadge Medal, Victoria Cross Medal, Hofe Trophy, Col. R.D. Nikam Trophy and a cash prize for Best Recruit. The Major S.S. Brar Medal and Trophy for Best in Physical Training was awarded to Vijay Sindhe. The Col. N.J. Nair-Ashok Chakra, Kirti Chakra Medal and Trophy for Best in Field Craft Training was given to Sandip Taware.
