Four TDP leaders call on KCR

WHAT'S BREWING?: Suspended TDP MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy calls on TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao in Hyderabad on Saturday.

HYDERABAD: Four senior Telugu Desam leaders called on Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao at his residence here on Saturday evening leading to speculation whether or not they would join TRS.

The TDP leaders – Nagam Janardhan Reddy, K. Harishwar Reddy, and Jogu Ramanna, all MLAs, and Boda Janardhan, ex-Minister – held talks with Mr. Rao and other TRS leaders for three-and-a-half hours. Of them, Mr. Janardhan Reddy and Mr. Janardhan have already been suspended by TDP.

In response to a question whether their admission into TRS was firmed up, Mr. Rao told media persons later, “We have discussed all issues and the decisions will be made at the right time.”

Mr. Janardhan Reddy who spoke for the TDP group said they had not given a thought to joining TRS as they were focussed on intensifying the separate Telangana movement with their hunger strike here on July 3 and 4.

They met Mr. Rao to seek his support for the fast. Mr. Janardhan Reddy also said they wanted to meet all Telangana leaders and organisations to forge unity for a collective agitation. The TRS chief said it was decided at the meeting that all of them will collectively struggle for separate Telangana in exposing the “political drama” enacted in New Delhi and the activities of opponents of statehood. He added that they shared all information about the progress of the movement. They will also meet Congress MPs from Telangana. Asked about the expiry of the deadline for resignation by Congress leaders on Friday, Mr. Rao said the decision of Telangana joint action committee to obstruct them for failure to resign would be implemented.
